Hardening off is a crucial seedling care step that many this is a disease that causes something called damping off, which kills seedlings at the base.
While damping off can strike seeds and seedlings started outdoors, it most often affects indoor seedlings due to high humidity, poor ventilation, and overcrowded seed trays.
This disease causes emerging seedlings to collapse, often submerged in a mass of white fungal. Damping off can affect the stems of seedlings both below the soil line and above.
