It is not actual seed starting mix, just normal potting mix. And the converse is true, with larger seeds that have higher germination rates, like canteloupes, you can. This miracle gro seed starting soil helps my pale green thumb get greener!
I've also used schultz because it was cheaper, but miracle gro is the most widely used.
